Feature Length Films vs. Short Films

There are many obvious and clear differences between a feature film and a short film. However there are a great deal of differences and here are just a few

  • A short film is shorter in duration than a feature film.
  • There is generally a smaller cast & characters.
  • There is a less complex story line for short films
  • Short films also have a much lower budget
  • However the lower budget means there are unlikely to be 'A' list stars in the film
  • Short films will have a niche audience, and will therefore be shown in smaller cinemas
  • A feature length film sometimes have the opportunity to create franchises (synergy)
  • Short films would have a less established distributor
  • The short films will have less dialogue and be more implicit.
